Hi, I’m Matthew Hutnik!
MEd, BA | Teaching Council Registration Number: 318010
I’ve always had an interest in the way people think and learn, especially adults. Since 2012, I’ve been working in Sligo as an Adult and Community Education Teacher specialising in teaching key skills to community groups and community organisation staff. A lot of what I teach focuses on the fundamentals of academic research and writing, digital skills and creative, community-based programmes.
I hold a Master of Education in Adult and Community Education from Maynooth University as well as a degree in English and Psychology from Atlantic Technological University, Sligo. In addition, I hold QQI Level 6 qualifications in Training and Development and in Coaching.
My Masters research focused on the benefits my teaching practice can bring to people over 60 learning digital skills - how it can also have positive impacts upon their confidence and their motivation to use technology more in their own time.
Currently, I am in collaboration with Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB), Sligo LEADER, Sligo LCDC and community centres in the area working on various educational and creative delivery projects.
